Obama Feigns Shock at Birther Question, Says He's 'Pretty Confident' Where He Was Born

-- President Obama today reacted to the Trump campaign's acknowledgement that the president was born in the U.S., saying he's "not that shocked" the conspiracy theory has found its way back into the news.
"I was pretty confident about where I was born," Obama wryly said to ABC's Jonathan Karl during a meeting in the Oval Office. "I think most people were as well."
Obama answered the question during a bipartisan meeting to promote the Trans Pacific Partnership that included business leaders, former military officials and politicians, including former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
"I have no reaction [to the Trump campaign] and I'm 'shocked' that a question like that has come up at a time when we have so many other things to do," Obama said. "Well, I'm not that shocked actually. It's fairly typical."
The president did not respond when asked if Trump owes him an apology, as Hillary Clinton insisted during remarks earlier in the day.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the president doesn't care about an apology from Trump.
"With regard to an apology, I don't think the president much cares," Earnest said.
