Political Pundits Scolded on Live TV: 'Oh God, It's Mom'
"I'm hoping you'll get some of this out of your system," she said.
-- Brad and Dallas Woodhouse, brothers with vastly different political ideologies, appeared to be having a great time bickering on C-SPAN today.
That is until one caller -- initially identified as "Joy, in Raleigh, North Carolina" -- phoned the network, popular among political junkies and Washington insiders, to deliver a particularly humiliating on-air scolding -- as only a mother could.
Before Mrs. Woodhouse began speaking, the brothers seemed enthusiastic.
"Hey, somebody from down south!" exclaimed Dallas Woodhouse, conservative president of the group Carolina Rising.
"That’s right, I’m from down south," the woman on the phone said.
"Oh god, it’s mom,” Dallas groaned, as Brad buried his face in his hands.
“I was very glad that this Thanksgiving was the year that you two were supposed to go to your in-laws,” said Mrs. Woodhouse, who reportedly called in through the regular public line.
“I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas,” she continued, acknowledging “it hadn't been easy” raising two strong-minded boys.
“No truer words had ever been said,” joked Brad, president of the progressive Super PAC American Bridge and advocacy group Americans United for Change. “We love you mom!”
“And I love politics,” a feisty Mamma Woodhouse responded.
