Poll Shows Hillary Clinton Leading Donald Trump, but Struggling With Marco Rubio, Ben Carson
The same NBC-WSJ polls shows Clinton beating out her other Democrat opponents.
— -- In a hypothetical general election matchup, Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton would beat businessman Donald Trump, according to NBC-Wall Street Journal poll results released today.
But that same poll puts the former secretary of state in a tight race with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson.
If the general election were held today, Clinton would have 50 percent of support, 10 points over Trump.
The NBC-Wall Street Journal poll shows Clinton stands neck and neck with Rubio, Cruz and Carson.
If the presidential election came down to Rubio versus Clinton, Rubio has 48 percent support while Clinton has 45 percent. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has been rising in the polls, would have 45 percent of the support against Clinton’s 48 percent. If Carson were the GOP nominee and faced Clinton as the Democrat nominee, he would rake in 47 percent support and Clinton would have 46 percent.
The margin of error for this poll was 3.36 percentage points.
The NBC-Wall Street Journal was conducted Dec. 6-9 in the wake of Trump’s policy on banning Muslims from entering the United States.
In the national Democratic primary race, Clinton also leads her other Democratic presidential opponents by 19 percentage points. Clinton polls at 56 percent support, independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has 37 percent support while former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley has 4 percent support.
