President Obama Cracks Birther Joke During Visit to Kenya

He made the joke during a toast at a state dinner

"Some of my critics back home might be suggesting I'm back here to look for my birth certificate," the president said as he delivered a toast at a state dinner at the State House in Nairobi. "That is not the case."

The birther conspiracies, which suggest Obama was not born in the U.S., are on frequent rotation on the president’s comedy routine.

"An American won the Boston Marathon for the first time in 30 years, which was inspiring and only fair, since a Kenyan has been president for the last six,” the president joked at the White House Correspondent’s Association Dinner in 2014.

"Today, I'm very proud of myself because I've accomplished what nobody else" was able to do, Trump said the day the president released his birth certificate.

Obama, who is on his fourth trip to his father's homeland, spent nearly three hours at the state dinner, at one point even dancing with a popular English and Swahili group called Sauti Soul.

"In my visits here as a younger man I could have never imagined the hospitality I met here today," he said. "So I feel my given African name, to be truly blessed.”
