Take a Private Tour of the Newseum With 'Trumbo' Star Bryan Cranston

— -- Two powerful worlds collide in the new film “Trumbo," a film by famed director Jay Roach and starring Bryan Cranston as Dalton Trumbo. Cranston's co-stars include Helen Mirren, John Goodman, Diane Lane and Louis C.K.

Before the stars took their seats for the Washington, D.C. premiere of “Trumbo" Monday evening, ABC News Digital livestreamed an exclusive private tour of the Newseum with Cranston -– best-known as Walter White from the beloved series “Breaking Bad” – and Roach, who directed Washington-centered movies like “Game Change" and “Recount.”

The film focuses on the true story of Dalton Trumbo, one of the highest-paid screenwriters in Hollywood during the late 1940s. Trumbo was imprisoned and added to the Hollywood Blacklist by the U.S. government for his “radical” political beliefs during America’s communist “red scare.”

After being subpoenaed to testify before the House of Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) in 1947, Trumbo’s failure to answer a congressman’s question landed him in federal prison for a year. For the next thirteen years, he was on the “Hollywood Blacklist” and shunned by the big movie studios.

Trumbo was forced to work under pseudonyms. During his time on the Hollywood Blacklist, he penned legendary films like “Spartacus,” which is credited, in part, with ending the Hollywood Blacklist era.

After his death he was posthumously awarded an Oscar for the classic “Roman Holiday.”

The film opens nationwide Nov. 26.
