Chrissy Gephardt "American President"?
-- ABC News' Mary Hood reports Chrissy Gephart will announce her candidacy tomorrow in Washington, DC to compete in the Showtime reality series American President.
As has been roundaboutly Noted: The show recruits presidential candidates from a broad mix to chronicle their candidacies. The winner gets $200 thousand dollars and a national platform for their issues.
According to the show's EP, R.J. Cutler of War Room and more recently, MTV's Freshman Diaries fame -- at least 1,500 people completed the "labor intensive" application process (20 thou were requested). From that pool, 12 or so have been selected to participate in the televised competition. Expect each of them to announce his/her candidacy tomorrow night sometime around 7 p.m.
The candidates will be judged based on the strength of their ideas, popularity, campaigns, etc. The show's advisory board is not too shabby.
Tomorrow night, Chrissy Gephart will be joined by her father, Richard and -- so the press flak tells me, off the record -- they expect an appearance from Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), as well.
American President is set to premiere this summer, August 1.
