Ted Cruz Picks Up 'Duck Dynasty' Patriarch Phil Robertson's Endorsement
Robertson said he like Cruz because he "will go duck hunting."
-- Ted Cruz picked up the endorsement of "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson not only because he’s “the man for the job,” but because Cruz “will go duck hunting.”
The campaign announced the endorsement in a video released today showing Cruz and Robertson in hunting clothes with their faces painted.
Robertson, star of the A&E reality series "Duck Dynasty," begins the video by ticking through the list that led him to his decision.
"My qualifications for president of the United States are rather narrow. Is he or she godly? Does he or she love us? Can he or she do the job and finally, would they kill a duck and put him in a pot and make him a good duck gumbo,” Robertson asks.
The video ends showing Robertson telling Cruz as they are in the midst of hunt, “you’re one of us man. That’s why I’ll be voting for you.”
Another member of the "Duck Dynasty" family, Robertson’s son Willie, appeared with Donald Trump at a campaign event in September of last year.
In Cruz’s campaign video, Phil Robertson says “we’re going to vote for you, all of us.”
