Terror Attack on Nice: Politicians, Celebrities Offer Condolences
There was an outpouring of support after the attacks.
— -- Politicians and celebrities expressed grief and condemnation following the terror attacks in Nice, France that left at least 80 people dead and numerous others wounded.
According to officials and the French president, a terrorist plowed a truck, which was "loaded with" grenades and other arms, into a large crowd during Bastille Day celebrations Thursday night. The attacker also opened fire through a window.
President Barack Obama issued a statement condemning the "horrific terrorist attack."
Secretary of State John Kerry, who joined French leaders today at Bastille Day celebrations in Paris, said he would continue to stand "firmly" with the French people during this time.
In an interview with Fox News, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton offered her condolences saying, "It’s terrible that France has faced too much tragedy and violence and we need to stand strongly with them."
On the other side of the aisle, Donald Trump, in a series of tweets asked "when will we learn?"
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan urged Americans to stand strong with "our dear friend and ally" France.
Celebrities from Amy Schumer to Banksy, expressed their condolences on Twitter using photos and the hashtag "Pray For Nice."
