Tinder Wants You to 'Swipe Right' for Your Favorite Candidate
The dating app launched "Swipe the Vote" Wednesday.
— -- Tinder users may soon find the familiar faces of Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton among their matches, thanks to a new initiative.
The dating app and Rock the Vote, the nonprofit organization focused on mobilizing young voters, have teamed up to launch "Swipe the Vote," Tinder announced in a post on its blog today.
"We’ve been amazed by the amount of users expressing their political views with matches during this presidential campaign," the post reads. "That’s why we decided to build Swipe the Vote."
The initiative aims to connect young voters with candidates and issues they care about in the hopes of getting them to out to the polls.
"After all, millennials should play a big role in deciding who our next president is," the company writes on its blog.
The "Swipe The Vote" option will come up in a user's potential matches. If selected, it brings up a ten-question survey asking about issues ranging from same-sex marriage to oil drilling. Tapping on each issues gives more information about the issues itself and users swipe right on those with which they agree and left on those they don’t.
“Once you’ve swiped through ten of the hottest issues, you’ll be matched with the candidate who best matches your views,” the company wrote on their blog. “We’ll show you how you compare with other candidates, too!”
At the end, users have the options to learn more about the candidates and register to vote.
This is not Tinder's first brush with the 2016 election. Last month, someone set-up a profile seeking votes for then-presidential candidate Marco Rubio. And a number of Sanders supporters have used the platform to urge the matches to "Feel the Bern."
