Trump Says He'll Start Spending At Least $2 Million a Week
-- GOP frontrunner Donald Trump said he'll be spending at least $2 million a week starting Jan. 4 as the primary season kicks into high gear, after resisting buying advertising in his self-financed campaign.
"I'll be spending a minimum of $2 million a week and perhaps substantially more than that," he said aboard his plane after boarding at Omaha's Eppley Airfield. "So I'm going to be doing big ads in Iowa, New Hampshire, south Carolina and they will be very substantial and I think they're very well done."
"I've seen the first two or three of them. We'll be talking about a lot of things including the border, including trade, including ISIS and security for the country," he added.
Trump, who hasn't done a major ad buy, said his campaign is $35 million under budget. The billionaire businessman added that he doesn't think he needs to spend the money if you look at the polls, but that he doesn't "want to take any chances." When discussing his GOP rivals, Trump warned "if anybody goes after me, I will spend a lot of money against the people who go after me."
When asked about the money Jeb Bush' campaign has spent, Trump said: "He hasn't spent $40 million. He's wasted $40 million. That's a big difference. Jeb has wasted $40 million."
Last week in Fairfield, IA, Hillary Clinton told the Des Moines Register that Donald Trump "has a penchant for sexism." Since that remark, the Republican presidential frontrunner has ramped up his attacks not only on Clinton, but also on her husband Former President Bill Clinton.
"Hillary brought up the whole thing with sexist and all I did was reverse it on her because she’s got a major problem, happens to be right in her house," Trump told reporters before his campaign rally in Council Bluffs, IA, which drew a crowd of 2,800.
"Madam President, can you imagine? Uh! Believe me women, if it’s got to be a woman, which I am all in favor of some day, it shouldn't be Hillary," Trump told the crowd.
