"World News Tonight" is Delivering Closest Overall Viewer Performance with NBC in 7 Years Season to Date
ABC News’ “World News Tonight with David Muir” averaged 7.846 million Total Viewers, 1.737 million Adults 25-54 and 1.134 million Adults 18-49 for the week of October 19, 2015, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
Season to date, “World News Tonight” is narrowing its Total Viewer season margin with “NBC Nightly News” nearly in half (-49% - 215,000 vs. 420,000), posting its closest overall viewer performance with the NBC program in 7 years – since the 2008-09 season.
“World News Tonight” cut its Total Viewer margin with “NBC Nightly News” from the same week last year by double digits (-39% - 276,000 vs. 454,000 on w/o 10/20/14). In fact, “World News Tonight” has narrowed its year-to-year Total Viewer margin with the NBC program in all 5 weeks of the season.
“World News Tonight” improved week-to-week (w/o 10/12/15) in Total Viewers (7.846 million vs. 7.808 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.737 million vs. 1.731 million).
For the week, “World News Tonight” beat the “CBS Evening News” by 1.031 million Total Viewers, by 259,000 Adults 25-54 and by 165,000 Adults 18-49.
