Texas Longhorns coach Charlie Strong made the announcement after practice on Wednesday.
"We just decided, because of his health -- that's the No. 1 concern for us -- that he's no longer going to play football," Strong said. "But he is going to be part of the team, because I told him I wanted him to be around the team and that's what he deserves."
Ash has only been able to play in two games since he suffered a concussion during a game a year ago.

The most buzzed about update is the Apple's new Health app, which lets users track all of their health and fitness data and metrics in one place. There is also the Family Sharing app, which lets up to six people in a single household share the same iTunes, iBooks and App Store purchases.
