Here is a quick refresher on the best moments told through GIFs.
Flying Dutchman
Robin van Persie scored one of the best goals on a header in World Cup history against Spain to help the Netherlands to a 5-1 rout of defending champion Spain.
Dempsey's Toughness
U.S. captain Clint Dempsey is tough, there's no question about that. His goal against Ghana got things started for the U.S. in what was an epic 2-1 win. Even a kick to the face couldn't stop Dempsey from playing.
Top Goal From Down Under
Australia may have lost to the Netherlands, but Tim Cahill's goal against the Dutch rivaled van Persie's strike against Spain. You be the judge which was the better goal.
Goals Don't Lie
Colombia has been one of the most entertaining teams at the World Cup -- and not just for its goals. A 2-1 win over Ivory Coast was also a chance to rejoice with a dance. The players channeled Shakira to celebrate both goals.
Shock and Draw
The U.S. was 30 seconds away from reaching the knockout round, but suffered a minor setback after Portugal tied the game 2-2 in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Game Face
No one celebrates a goal better than Mexico coach Miguel Herrera. He got to do this three times in his team's 3-1 win versus Croatia to reach the knockout round.
Bite Felt Around the World
Uruguay's Luis Suarez was at it again. This time, he appeared to bite Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini that Uruguay won 1-0 to reach the knockout stage.
Making it to the 'Knock'-Out Round
The Americans could not get out of their own way against Germany. No matter. The Americans lost 1-0 but still advanced to the round of 16 after Portugal defeated Ghana.
Net Loss
Switzerland held out for as long as it could, but Argentina scored deep into extra time thanks to Angel Di Maria to win 1-0 and advance to the quarterfinals.
American Dream Ends
The United States put in a great effort at the World Cup, but was eliminated in the round of 16 in a 2-1 overtime loss to Belgium despite Tim Howard's heroics. Of course, the Americans could have won the game at the end with Chris Wondolowski, but it was not meant to be. Klinsmann's reaction says it all.
Germany's 'Seventh Heaven'
The Germans steamrolled past Brazil 7-1 in the semifinals and broke the heart of 200 million people in the process. As Germany piled on the goals -- ahead 5-0 at halftime -- Brazil fans were seen sobbing in the stands in Belo Horizonte. As this little boy can testify to, defeat truly never tasted so badly.
Germany's World Cup Winning Volley
Mario Goetze scored the World Cup-winning goal against Argentina in the 113th minute of the final. It gave Germany its fourth World Cup title.
