Camera Catches Breathtaking Shot of Sun Behind Christ the Redeemer During World Cup Final
The sun was setting as the broadcast turned to the statue.
-- Breathtaking.
It's the most apt description for the shot of an amazing sunset behind the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the World Cup final between Germany and Argentina.
The statue towers above the famed Maracanã where the final was played today.
As amazing as the sunset was, ESPN's Ian Darke and Steve McManaman wanted to focus on the game. When the broadcast returned to the statue for a second time, they asked that the director get back to the soccer.
