2014 World Cup: Get to Know Ghana's Andre Ayew
US defenders need to watch out for this scoring threat.
-- It’s shaping up to be a big summer for Ghanaian winger Andre Ayew.
Ayew, 24, was born in France to a soccer-loving family. His father, Abedi Pele, is considered one of the best African players who never made it to the World Cup. Ayew’s younger brother, Jordan, will also join him in Brazil.
Ayew will be playing in his second World Cup, having featured four times in South Africa back in 2010. He was named man of the match in Ghana’s 2-1 victory against the United States, assisting on the winning goal by Asamoah Gyan.

The pacey winger plays professionally for Marseille in France, but could be on the move this summer. Transfer rumors have linked Ayew to Liverpool and Italian club Napoli, with one website saying the team had made a $13 million) bid for him.
He denied the talk on Twitter.
With a strong World Cup and rising stock, Marseille may want to sell Ayew sooner rather than later.
Ayew and Ghana open against the U.S. today, before facing Germany and Portugal in a tough Group G.
