Brittney Griner to miss finals game

— -- Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner will miss Game 3 of the WNBA finals after undergoing an outpatient procedure to correct a retinal issue.

According to the Mercury's Twitter feed, Griner was not happy with the decision.

Griner was injured in Phoenix's Game 2 victory over the Chicago Sky when she took two blows to the face and suffered a scratched eyelid, chipped tooth and bloodied lip.

The 6-foot-8 All-WNBA selection finished Game 2 with 19 points and four blocks.

The Mercury take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series to Chicago on Friday (ESPN2, 8 p.m. ET) looking to clinch their third WNBA title and first since 2009.
