Houston, Stanford suffer huge drops in Week 6 Power Rankings

— -- The trend toward top 25 chaos mellowed out a little this week, with the top half mostly taking care of business. One top-10 mainstay you won't see there this week, though, is Houston, which dropped 10 spots after a loss to Navy. Stanford also lost for the second straight week, which dropped it out of our Power Rankings completely.

We know there is still one Power 5 game left to play -- Georgia at South Carolina (2:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network) -- but it won't be factored into this week's list.

Week 6 result:?bye

Ole Miss quarterback? Chad Kelly?ran onto the field after a brawl erupted at his brother's high school game in New York on Friday. 14.? Houston Cougars?(5-1)

The Midshipmen turned three Greg Ward Jr. turnovers into 17 points and rolled up 306 yards on the ground against the nation's top-ranked statistical run defense going into the weekend. Houston's dream of becoming the first Group of 5 program to make the playoff likely has come to an end.

After a cupcake start to the season, the Hurricanes had a chance to make a statement against the rival Seminoles. The Sooners are quietly sitting at 2-0 in the Big 12 with a pair of victories away from home.

19.? Florida Gators?(4-1)

Trending:?

Week 5 ranking:?21
Week 6 result:?game against LSU postponed

Hurricane Matthew wiped out Florida's game against LSU, and it remains unclear if and when it will be rescheduled, though SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said, "the game needs to be played." Playing Oct. 29 would be an option, though it would force some shuffling of the SEC schedule. The alternative would be Nov. 19, though it would require LSU giving up a home game, and both schools buying out dates against FCS opponents.
