Five keys for Manny Pacquiao

— -- Manny Pacquiao returns to the ring Saturday to defend his welterweight title against unbeaten 140-pound titlist Chris Algieri in Macau.

Will the fight prove for Pacquiao to be a lead-up to a much-anticipated duel against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2015? That remains to be seen.

Pacquiao (56-6-2, 38 KOs) first must get past the slick Algieri (20-0, 8 KOs) at the Venetian Macao's Cotai Arena (HBO PPV, 9 p.m. ET). 

Despite being a heavy favorite, Pacquiao will need to take some precautions to avoid any surprises. He should also consider these keys to victory:
