Pirates acquire Isiah Kiner-Falefa from Blue Jays

The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired superutilityman Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced Tuesday.

The Blue Jays are receiving minor league infielder/outfielder Charles McAdoo in the trade.

Kiner-Falefa, 29, is having a career year, hitting .292 with a .758 OPS to go along with strong defense at a variety of positions. He is signed through 2025 and slated to make $7.5 million next year.

The Blue Jays have been sellers at the deadline after a disappointing season that has them at the bottom of the American League East. The Pirates, meanwhile, are in a tightly-contested wild card race in the National League.

McAdoo, 22, was a 13th round pick by the Pirates out of San Jose State in last year's draft.
