Raphael Nadal Loses to 19-Year-Old Australian
Raphael Nadal, world's number one ranked tennis player, loses to unranked teen.
July 1, 2014 -- In one of the more startling upsets in tennis history, Raphael Nadal, the world's No. 1 ranked tennis player and fan-favorite, was eliminated from Wimbledon on Tuesday by 19-year-old newcomer Nick Kyrgios.
Kyrgios' stunning below-the-legs-shot ended the match's fourth set with a win for the Australian teen and secured him a spot in Wimbledon's quarterfinals where he will face Canada's Milos Raonic.
This is the first time a 19-year-old bested a No. 1-ranked player since Nadal beat Roger Federer at the French Open semifinals in 2005.
"You've got to believe you can win the match from the start," Kyrgios told ESPN.
