USA to play in Group D

— -- Team USA's road to a potential 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup title just got a little bumpier.

The United States (No. 1 in FIFA's world rankings) was placed in Group D -- the only group with three top-10 teams -- in Saturday's draw for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, along with Sweden (No. 5), Australia (No. 10) and Nigeria (No. 35).

U.S. forward Sydney Leroux was quick to weigh in on the team's tough draw on Twitter.

Bring it on.

There are 24 teams in the tournament for the first time, up from 16. The groups break down as follows:

Group A: Canada, China PR, New Zealand, Netherlands

Group B: Germany, Côte d'Ivoire, Norway, Thailand

Group C: Japan, Switzerland, Cameroon, Ecuador

Group D: United States, Australia, Sweden, Nigeria

Group E: Brazil, Korea Republic, Spain, Costa Rica

Group F: France, England, Colombia, Mexico

The U.S., Germany and Japan were the top three teams as of September's world rankings.

The first- and second-place finishers in each group automatically advance to the Round of 16.

The 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup begins June 6 in Canada, with the championship scheduled for July 5 in Vancouver.
