Victor Espinoza among those on 'Dancing with the Stars' cast
-- Victor Espinoza will trade his jockey silks for a pair of dancing shoes this fall.
Espinoza, who rode American Pharoah to the first Triple Crown in 37 years this summer, is among those who will star in the 21st season of "Dancing with the Stars," ABC announced Wednesday.
Espinoza has more 3,000 wins, but none were bigger than the Kentucky Derby-Preakness-Belmont Stakes sweep that made American Pharoah the 12th horse to capture the Triple Crown and first since Affirmed did it in 1978.
Now Espinoza will set his sights on another piece of hardware -- the mirror ball trophy given to DWTS's winner.
Also on this season's cast will be Alek Skarlatos, the Army National Guard specialist who spoiled a potential terror attack last month in Paris with his friends, Spencer Stone and Anthony Sadler, by overpowering a gun-toting man. The wife of Atlanta Falcons linebacker Kroy Biermann -- known in reality TV circles as "Real Housewives of Atlanta" cast member Kim Zolciak Biermann -- also will hit the dance floor when the show debuts Sept. 14.

Former athletes have had great success on "Dancing with the Stars." Past winners include Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith, ex-NFL receivers Hines Ward and Donald Driver, and Olympic champions Apolo Anton Ohno and Kristi Yamaguchi.
