Winter Olympics 2014: Sochi Problems Now Have a Home on Twitter
It was only a matter of time before @SochiProblems became a thing.
Feb. 6, 2014 -- With Sochi Winter Olympic events underway, Twitter is ablaze with new accounts gaining traction for poking fun at one of the world’s biggest events.
And the bandwagon winner to kick off the 2014 Winter Olympiad has been @SochiProblems.
It exploded on the Twitter-snark scene this week by featuring highlights of reporting on the infrastructure problems that has met journalists, athletes and visitors upon their arrival and assimilation into Sochi for the Olympics.
Some of the pictures and reports posted to the account are really from Sochi, while others are simply hyperbolic jokes using old images or shticks to press a point.
The account began tweeting just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday with a poke at a supposed Sochi hotel room being inclusive -- with three really small beds:
…and has seen a following explosion normally reserved for a celebrity joining Twitter: zero to 76,000+ and climbing in just two days.

The account does not state who it is run by and hasn’t given any hints about the owner in its tweets.
