New Apple TV: 1st Look at Apple TV With Siri
Apple revolutionized the way people listen to music and now it’s taking on TV.
-- Apple is the company that revolutionized the way we listen to music and use the phone, and now it’s taking on television.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, invited “Good Morning America”’s Rebecca Jarvis for an exclusive look at the first Apple TV with a Siri remote.
The $149 device connects to a TV with an HDMI cable.
The device organizes the user's TV screen to appear much like that of an iPhone or iPad – showing apps for everything from games, to shopping and TV channels, including live programming.
Apple TV is controlled by a remote with five buttons including a button for Siri, Apple’s voice-activated assistant technology.
By speaking to the remote, users can ask the weather and hear a reply. Ask to find a favorite TV show – for example, that episode of “Modern Family” with Matt Dillon – and watch it seconds later.
It may just be the tip of the iceberg. When Jarvis asked Cue how he envisioned the future 5 or 10 years from now, he said he expected viewing to become even more interactive.
“You could be watching the presidential debate, all of us could be voting thumbs up or thumbs down on each question … and see in our own city or our own state and across the US what do people think," Cue said. "It's giving you those capabilities, making those things more real time."
