Dazzling bioluminescent event lights up Tasmanian sea

— -- Crowds gathered to experience the dazzling glow of a bioluminescent event along beaches in Tasmania in Australia this week.

The event was reportedly due a plankton-eating organism called Noctiluca scintillans, which lights up neon blue or green when it is disturbed.

A photographer recorded the phenomenon at the shore near George Town on Tuesday as beachgoers moved hands, feet and sticks in the glowing water.
