Google's Calendar App Can Now Help You Reach Your Goals

"There's not enough time in the day," is no longer a viable excuse.

Google announced a new artificially intelligent "Goals" feature Tuesday night for its mobile app that sounds a lot like a virtual life coach.

Here's how it works: Set a goal, such as exercising, working on a new skill or even just taking time to unwind. Next, choose the frequency per week, your preferred time of day and the app will take care of blocking a free window on your calendar so you can stay on track with your goals.

The Calendar app will automatically reschedule a goal if another conflict comes up at that time or if a user needs to push their "me time" from its scheduled slot.

The more a person uses Calendar, its machine learning software will get better at scheduling times that will work the best for each user, Jyoti Ramnath, a product manager at Google, explained in a blog post. That means if mid-afternoon language study keeps getting deferred, Google's Calendar will soon be able to learn you prefer to take your Swedish lessons in the evening.
