The Next iPhone Will Likely Come in Gold
Flavor Flav is going to be very excited about this iPhone rumor.
Aug. 19, 2013 -- Apple might just strike gold with its next iPhone.
Well, not actual gold, but according to various reports the next iPhone -- presumably called the iPhone 5S -- will come in a gold color option. Previously the iPhone has only been available in black and white.
The first reports of the gold-colored iPhone popped up a few months ago along with some leaked shots of the purported phone. And now Techcrunch columnist and Apple expert MG Siegler reports that he had heard from multiple sources that the next iPhone will come in a gold hue. And Techcrunch isn't the only outlet with sources who say there will be a golden version of the new phone. iMore editor Rene Richie, 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman and AllThingsD's John Paczkowski have all heard the same.
However, don't expect it to be real gold or to be an overly gaudy color. "I'm told that the golden iPhone will not be a totally blinged-out gold," MG Siegler wrote in an article on Techcrunch on Sunday night. iMore also mocked up an image of what it expects the gold color to look like. And no, it doesn't have a black diamond in the home button like this gold $15M version of the iPhone.
When reached by ABC News, Apple declined to comment on the gold iPhone rumors.
The gold color is just one of the rumored features of the next iPhone. According to a series of reports, the next iPhone will also have a faster processor, better camera and a fingerprint sensor. There are also reports that Apple will release a cheaper, plastic version of the iPhone called the iPhone 5C. The iPhone 5C is said to come in a selection of colors, including green, blue, pink and white. But those haven't quite had the same reaction as the gold rumors.
According to recent reports, Apple plans to hold an event on Sept. 10 to announce the next iPhones.
