NASA Captures Spooky Image of the Sun Getting Into the Halloween Spirit

NASA captures image of sun looking like a jack-o'-lantern.

A storm of magnetic fields made the sun look like a spooky jack-o'-lantern in a photo taken on Oct. 8.

"The active regions appear brighter because those are areas that emit more light and energy -- markers of an intense and complex set of magnetic fields hovering in the sun’s atmosphere, the corona," NASA said on its website.

The image blends two sets of wavelengths, giving the sun that perfect pumpkin glow.
