Samsung Pay Expands to Smart TVs

Would you pay for something using your television?

— -- Here's another reason to never have to pull out your wallet again.

The TV-based payment service is geared toward in-app purchases from a slew of popular games, including Casino World Championship, Golf Star and Deer Hunter.

People who already have accounts with Samsung will be able to skip the registration process. After a customer's credentials are registered, all customers will have to do is select their purchase, press "pay now" and enter the four-digit PIN tied to their account.

"The Samsung Smart TV payment service also features enhanced security. Users can rest assured that their personal payment information is safe and secure," the announcement on Samsung's website said. It added the Samsung smart televisions would add a layer of protection thanks to what the company calls the "world's first secure virtual keyboard and input mechanism on a TV."

Samsung didn't share a release date but said the service will be available on certain 2014 and 2015 models of the company's smart TVs and will initially cover 32 countries.
