Single Women Irked by Pinterest Push Toward Altar

Not all users were plotting out their perfect "I do's."

— -- Single women are laughing – sort of - after getting what felt like an unwanted nudge towards the altar from the pin board site Pinterest.

Recipients were told "You're getting married!" even if they have never "pinned" their favorite wedding dress or flower arrangements to their online inspiration boards.

The message went on to suggest that the recipients browse special collections of stationary ideas "curated by graphic designers, photographers and fellow brides-to-be, all Pinners with a keen eye and marriage on the mind."

Pinterest told ABC News, "We're sorry we came off like an overbearing mother who's always asking when you'll settle down with a nice boy or girl."

Given the email's similarity to a gently concealed nudge from an over-eager relative, some users took the email in a less-than-favorable way.
