Six Arrested in Alleged Brothel Bus
Undercover sting operation netted 75 arrests in Miami Beach.
June 26, 2008 -- An undercover investigation in Miami Beach led to the arrests of 75 people on prostitution-related charges -- including six people who allegedly worked a brothel bus.
The undercover operation was part of a nationwide initiative with the FBI to rid cities of child prostitution. Three members of the local police force went undercover from Thursday, June 19, to early Sunday morning. Police said that after being approached by a man who described what they could get on board the alleged whorehouse on wheels, undercover detectives paid $40 to board the ultimate party bus around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The detectives were told that, for a higher fee, they could get everything from "a lap dance to access to a VIP area where [they] could get oral sex or full sex," Miami Beach Police Department spokesman Det. Juan Sanchez said.
They arrested the six people on board -- a man and five women -- and confiscated "lots of money," Sanchez said.
The three-day initiative led to the ultimate arrest of 69 other people, including one juvenile, on prostitution-related charges, Miami Beach police said.
