Royal Bachelor Party: 48 Hours in Cape Town

The royal best-kept secrets of Kate and William include bachelor-party site.

LONDON, Jan. 18, 2011— -- Among the best-kept secrets of bride-to-be Kate Middleton and Prince William are the following: the wedding dress, the guest list and, ahem, the stag-party destination.

Only a select few know which designer Kate Middleton has chosen to make her wedding dress.

Word has it that Middleton's so determined to keep the dress a secret -- not only from the public but from William -- that she has had secret fittings at Buckingham Palace.

As for the guest list, royal watchers are on tenterhooks awaiting its release.

The stag party, however, is largely thought to be headed to Cape Town, South Africa.

William has ties to the country. And he and Prince Harry took in the World Cup soccer matches in June.

The brothers also did a charity motorcycle ride across South Africa in 2008. And they have both spoken of their love for a the continent that allows them to be "anonymous."

Some say Wales and Scotland are also likely options for a bachelor party, but if the royal groom wants some pre-wedding sunshine, he'd better hope that his brother, Harry, and best friend Guy Pelly choose Cape Town.

Here are some places to stay and things to see for the royal bachelor party.

The well-heeled group will need a stylish base in South Africa's capital. Bali House in the Camps Bay suburb has a pool, Jacuzzi and a fulltime cook and butler to keep the royal party happy.

Royal Stag Party Suggestions

The four-story villa is situated right on the seafront, complete with balconies, vast outdoor terraces and state-of-the-art technology.

The princely party can easily dig into Bali House's private wine cellar, although it would be rude not to get out there and sample the region's wine.

Wine Tasting

Not among the secrets is that William is a keen pilot. A good stag-party surprise would be a helicopter trip to the wine region.

NAC Makana Aviation organizes helicopter rides above Table Mountain to Constantia, home to South Africa's most expensive real estate and some of the country's finest vineyards.

The internationally acclaimed wine estate, Constantia Uitsig, would be a perfect choice. Originally a Cape Dutch homestead, it has a stately lawn and cricket oval so the group could squeeze in a game of cricket between the wine tastings.

With 80 acres of immaculately kept vineyards, the estate produces 12,000 cases of wine every year. The wine portfolio boasts award-winning wines and includes an MCC Sparkling Wine, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and an exceptional Semillon, as well as flagship white and red blends.

Last stop: Constantia Uitsig's flagship restaurant. Known as Cape Town's best, it is always abuzz with locals, tourists and celebrities.

What better place to fill the royal bellies before gliding back down to the city center for a night to remember … we'll leave details of that to Harry and Pelly. The former is no stranger to partying and the latter owns the London nightclub Public.
