Choose an Unexpected Honeymoon: Turkey
This hotel built into the side of a cliff is dripping with old world romance.
March 28, 2014 -- After negotiating the budgets, family politics and customization inherent to modern nuptials, many newlyweds are inclined to hop a plane for their honeymoon as soon as the last guest leaves.
But just as some couples seek to personalize their reception with signature cocktails, original themes and one-of-a-kind hashtags, a standard beach honeymoon doesn't fit the bill for all brides and grooms, either.

And really, why stare out at rolling waves when you could be cuddled up in a cave?
That is, if the cave in question happens to be one of the 53 rooms and suites found at Argos in Cappadocia, a Turkish luxury hotel housed in a former monastery.
Argos is a warren of meticulously restored remains of historical dwellings, underground tunnels and caves that exude old world romance. Far from dark and creepy, these caverns feature sparkling private pools, luxury linens and all of the amenities a traveler could desire in 2014.
Venture deeper and one finds private wine cellars and hollowed-out sanctuaries for relaxation. Meanwhile, should you prefer to get out in the open, the in-house restaurant, Seki, sits on a terrace overlooking the Güvercinlik Valley, serving homemade pastas, grilled sea bass and 44-hour cooked lamb shoulder, among other treats.

The hotel is currently wooing couples to discover the region with a honeymoon special for those who travel before Dec. 31, 2014. The "Argos Luxury Honeymoon Escape" starts at $4,390 for two people, based on double occupancy, and includes four nights in a "Splendid Suite," wine tasting in the underground wine chapel, a personalized romance concierge, horseback riding for two, a couple’s pottery-making session and a one-hour "hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia’s beautiful Goreme Valley."
In other words, you can feel like the king and queen of an empire throughout your stay.
