Hotel suite of the week: Bobby Orr Suite at the Ames Boston Hotel
It's what hockey dreams are made of.
-- With the National Hockey League kicking off its new season, there's no better time to soak up the excitement than the Ames Boston Hotel.
The 114-room hotel, located in downtown Boston, is home to the Bobby Orr Suite, an entire suite dedicated to legendary Boston Bruin Bobby Orr. In other words, the stuff hockey dreams are made of.
Guests will find two seats from the original Boston Garden and a replica scoreboard with the time and score halted at the exact moment Orr scored the winning goal in overtime on May 10, 1970, clinching the Stanley Cup for the Bruins.
Orr’s retired banner from his personal collection hangs above the bed, with a collection of hockey sticks from his days on the ice.
“For me, this suite is about celebrating my former teammates, the Boston Bruins, and the city of Boston,” said Orr in a media release. The suite is priced from $500 per night.
The Ames building, considered the city's first skyscraper, recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation. It was originally built in 1893 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
