8 Oscars-Inspired Vacations

Argo

The Argo-inspired "Secret Agent" Package at Donovan House, a Kimpton Hotel in Washington, D.C., lets travelers get the inside intel on the city featuring fun spy-related perks and amenities inspired by the Oscar-nominated movie Argo. The hotel is named after "Wild" Bill Donovan, the founder of the CIA. The package includes deluxe accommodations; welcome amenity of a notepad and invisible ink; two tickets to the International Spy Museum and a $25 credit for adjacent restaurant Zentan for Bond martinis. Rates are start at $165.

Brave

Adventures by Disney is offers a nine-day, eight-night Brave-inspired tour package to Scotland for visitors who want to experience everything Brave on their next family vacation. Discover the magnificent castles and mysterious standing stones behind the inspiration for the film while exploring Edinburgh, Inverness, Loch Ness, Isle of Lewis and Isle of Skye.

Trips run March through September at about $6,000 per adult and slightly less for kids. The price includes accommodations, activities, most meals and flights within Scotland.

Lincoln

Hotel offers inspired by the movie Lincoln abound. The Federal Pointe Inn in Gettysburg, Pa., overlooking the historic Battlefield offers The Lincoln at Gettysburg Package. The package for two people includes one night in the Lincoln Suite; a two-hour guided tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield and historic with stops at downtown with such stops at the Lincoln Train Station, where the president arrived in Gettysburg, the Wills House where Lincoln slept and finished the Gettysburg Address, the church where he attended services and the cemetery where he delivered the Address. Guests who recite the opening sentence of the Gettysburg Address at check-in will receive a signed copy of Lincoln the War President by renowned Lincoln scholar Gabor S. Boritt. The Lincoln At Gettysburg Package is $224 and valid through May 16, 2013.

The "All about Abe" package at the Capitol Hill Hotel in Washington, D.C.. includes tickets to tour Ford's Theater National Historic Site and The Peterson House; tickets to President Lincoln's Cottage; a copy of Doris Kearns Goodwin's biography of Lincoln, "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln"; accommodations in Capitol Hill Hotel's equipped with kitchens or kitchenette; complimentary Wi-Fi and continental breakfast each morning. Prices start at $169 per night.

The "Four Score" Lincoln Package at Kimpton's Hotel Monaco in Washington, D.C., includes, according to the hotel four great perks: Deluxe accommodations in the historic hotel, which was the General Post Office and offices for the Postmaster General during the Civil War; admission and tour for two at President Lincoln's Cottage; admission to Ford's Theatre - where Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play and two tickets to Madame Tussauds to see The Presidents Gallery, which includes wax figures of all 44 U.S. presidents, including Abraham Lincoln. Rates start at $279.

For true Lincoln buffs Frontiers Travel is offering a Lincoln specific tour accompanied by a Lincoln specialist tour guide. Guest will experience the era on a two-day tour that visits both Gettysburg and Washington, D.C., while focusing on the life and impact of Abraham Lincoln on US history. It includes a tour of the National Archive; Ford theatre; The Petersen House where Lincoln dies after being shot; a tour of the Lincoln Memorial and more. Cost of the program is based on four guests and starts at about $4,000. The price does not include hotel accommodations or meals.

Life of Pi Though difficult – and probably not desirable to the average traveler – to recreate an experience that primarily takes place on a life boat, if the movie Life of Pi has you inspired to visit India, here are two very different ways to do it.

First, the lap of luxury: A jungle retreat at Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore. Adjacent to Rajasthan's famous Ranthambhore National Park and Tiger Reserve, Oberoi will take guests on a tiger safari to spot Richard look-alikes and led by a local guide. Guests can also spend a night in a luxury tent under the stars to experience sleeping in the great outdoors, but on dry land. The price includes daily breakfast and one dinner per stay; the tiger safari is extra and priced from $25 per person.

Or, experience a bit of India by bike. Bike Tours Direct calls their "Land of the Maharajas" tour a "nod to the Life of Pi" where travelers will spend most of their days cycling through the rural and rustic Rajasthan. The tour will pass through a game reserve, bustling markets and the romantic city of Udaipur. Price for the 12-day tour is $2,671 and includes accommodations.
