Chances are you've been to at least one of the world's top attractions chosen by TripAdvisor: lucky for domestic travelers, some of the world's best are right here in the U.S.
TripAdvisor's Travelers’ Choice awards for zoos, aquariums, theme parks and water parks around the globe include the top 25 in the world and dedicated lists for Asia, Canada, Europe, India, South America, South Pacific, the U.K. and the U.S. The awards are based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers. Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews for zoos and aquariums worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period.
Taking top honors in the world for zoos is California's San Diego Zoo.
Among aquariums, tops in the world went to Oceanario de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal. It beat out the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, which came in as No. 2 in the world and the top aquarium in the U.S.
Among theme parks, U.S. travelers need not pack a passport. The top spot in the world went to Universal's Island of Adventure in Orlando, Florida.
But if water parks are your jam, it's time to pack your bags for Spain. Siam Park in Adeje, Spain took the top spot in the world. In the U.S., Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park in Orlando, Florida took top honors (and was named No. 4 in the world).
