Pro Air Remains Grounded

D E T R O I T, Sept. 28, 2000 -- Pro Air has lost its bid to resume flying during a federal safety probe.

The National Transportation Safety Board Wednesday denied the carrier’s request to fly while it investigatesFederal Aviation Administration charges.

The discount airline has its hub at Detroit City Airport and corporate offices in Seattle. It operates three Boeing 737s. Pro Air has appealed the FAA’s decision.

The FAA revoked Pro Air’s operating certificate last week, citing maintenance and equipment deficiencies. The airline later filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
