Say cheers to 75 years of Pat O'Brien's bar

— -- If you clearly recall your last visit to Pat O'Brien's bar complex in New Orleans' French Quarter, perhaps you didn't stay long enough or try hard enough. It is, after all, home to the infamous and unnaturally red Hurricane rum cocktail, the flaming courtyard fountain, the dueling-pianos lounge and the 500-beer-stein collection, all of which have figured prominently in the high times and headaches of the million-plus tourists who visit each year.

In any case, memories take center stage this holiday season as the bar toasts 75 years of revelry. Technically, Wednesday was the anniversary — Pat O's naughtily opened two days before Prohibition was officially repealed on Dec. 5, 1933 — but the past will be celebrated through next spring with a historical photo display and the sale of commemorative posters, glassware and T-shirts (patobriens.com).
