'Transformers' Ride Coming to Universal Orlando
Guests will be "fully-immersed" with favorite characters and nemeses.
Nov. 2, 2012 -- Universal Orlando Resort announced Thursday it will debut the wildly popular Transformers: The Ride – 3D at Universal Studios-Orlando in the summer of 2013.
Universal Studios Florida made the announcement by showing the video to its in-park guests Thursday night.
The announcement comes after months of speculation from travelers who wondered whether Universal was building a Transformers- or Harry Potter-related ride. The theme park said the ride will take about a year to complete, making it one of the shortest build times in Universal history.
"TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D is the perfect addition to Universal Orlando's thrilling theme park experiences," Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative, said in a news release. "The ride has already proven to be a hit at our Hollywood and Singapore parks, and we're excited that Universal Orlando guests will soon be able to join the Autobots in the fight to save the world."
The popular ride is already up and running at Universal Studios-Singapore and Universal Studios-Hollywood. The films and television shows are wildly popular.
The three movies in the "Transformers" franchise have grossed more than $2 billion combined worldwide at the box office.
