Nearly 20 Riders Stranded on Theme Park Ride in NC
It took at least 2 hours to bring the riders to safety.
-- Nearly 20 people were left stranded hundreds of feet in the air at a North Carolina amusement park Thursday night.
An eye witness video shows the popular Windseeker, the second tallest ride at the Carowinds theme park in Charlotte, motionless at its full height of 301 feet. It took about two hours to bring the riders down, WSOC, ABC's affiliate in Charlotte, reported.
A power outage is to blame, a spokesperson with Carowinds confirmed to ABC News today.
"Several" other rides were also brought to a halt, Carowinds confirmed.
Carowinds said the park will be open today with all rides, except four, in full operation. The Windseeker will not be affected.
