Fla. Teacher Kristen Sullivan Accused of Having Year-Long Sexual Relationship With Her Student

Kristen Sullivan allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student.

April 23, 2010 — -- A Florida teacher is facing several charges after police say she carried out a nearly year-long consensual sexual relationship with a 14-year-old male student, allegedly having sex on her desk at school and even in a parked car outside the boy's home.

Kristen Sullivan, 25, was arrested April 20 and is facing two counts of sexual battery while being in a position of authority and one count of lewd or lascivious battery.

Authorities at the Lauderhill Police Department say that the relationship began when Sullivan met the student, whose name is redacted in the police report because of his age, in January 2009 during a boxing program at Lauderhill Middle School. At the time, the student was in the eighth grade.

Over the course of the next six months, Sullivan transferred the student into her computer class and would "pull him out of other classes so that he could assist her," according to the police report obtained by ABCNews.com. She also allegedly "changed the grade he received in his science class from a 'C' grade to a 'B,'" the police said.

In May 2009, the relationship allegedly heated up when Sullivan "kissed the teen on the cheek while in her classroom after school," according to the student's statement to police.

The student told police that after Sullivan kissed him on the cheek in May 2009 he telephoned his teacher and asked if she would have sex with him.

Sullivan allegedly responded, "We'll see," but the next morning, Sullivan escorted the student to a computer room at the school "which only she had a key to," according to the police report. Sullivan and the student then had sex in this so-called "computer storage room."

The student claims that he and Sullivan had sex approximately 100 times between May 2009 and April 18, 2010, and some days had sex more than once a day.

Teacher Gave Student Expensive Gifts

On April 18, the last time the student tells police he had contact with Sullivan, the couple had sex at 11 p.m. in Sullivan's black four-door Honda while parked outside his house.

"Sullivan had been wearing a black nightgown type garment," and he wore boxer shorts, the student told police.

During the April 19 interview with police, the student made a phone call to the teacher under the direction of the police, who recorded the call.

The student asked Sullivan, "Where are we gonna do it tonight," to which Sullivan responded by saying, "Does it matter? Wherever you want."

Sullivan is currently out on $75,000 bond, and no trial date has been set. A lawyer for her was not immediately identified, and calls made to her home by ABCNews.com were not returned.

Sullivan confessed to the relationship, police spokesman Capt. Rick Rocco told the Miami Herald, but she didn't acknowledge having sex at the school.

The student admitted the relationship to his mother after his new girlfriend noticed text messages between him and Sullivan, according to the police report.

The student's mother had also become suspicious of her son over the past year, according to police, because of the extra cash he had on him and the expensive gifts he brought home.

According to police, the student alleges that Sullivan gave him a pair of Air Jordan sneakers, a gold chain, a touch screen cell phone, Sony Playstation games, a Nintendo Wii console, and football apparel. He also claimed to police that Sullivan gave him marijuana as many as 15 times. Police found many of these items in Sullivan's home when they arrested her, the report said.

The student reciprocated the gift-giving, and gave Sullivan a "gold chain with a charm."
