Police say body found in Michigan woods is Brenna Machus
July 18, 2013 -- Michigan police confirmed that a body found in a wooded area this morning is that of 20-year-old store clerk Brenna Machus, who was kidnapped on Monday in an incident that also included the murder of her co-worker.
Machus's body was found just miles from the Family Dollar store in Dearborn, Mich., where she was abducted and her colleague Joseph Orlando, 20, was shot.
Police offered no details on the condition of the body.
"I feel rather enraged that we have another homicide in Dearborn at this time," Police Chief Ron Haddad said.
"Brenna is my youngest, shining star. She is loved by many," her mother, Lisa Machus, said at a news conference prior to the body's discovery, in an emotional appeal to her abductor.
Surveillance video captured images of the suspect, a man wearing dark clothes and a hood over his head. His face cannot be seen, but police hope someone recognizes his clothing or can identify him by the way he walks.
