The boy was airlifted to a hospital.
-- A boy was hospitalized this morning after he was bitten by a shark in Cocoa Beach, Florida, officials said.
The boy, believed to be 10 years old, was bitten on his calf around 11 a.m., Brevard County Ocean Rescue Chief Jeff Scabarozi told ABC News.
"It was a significant injury," Scabarozi said.
It happened right in front of a lifeguard tower and lifeguards responded immediately, Scabarozi said.
The boy was airlifted to a hospital. His condition wasn't immediately released.
The beach closed after the incident and re-opened an hour later.
