Caught on Camera: Building Collapse in New York Injures Three
Three people were taken to local hospitals with injuries.
-- A dramatic building collapse in New York was caught on surveillance footage.
The four-story building in Brooklyn, New York, came down just before 2:30 p.m. yesterday, a spokesperson with the New York City Fire Department told ABC News today.
Pedestrians — seen in the video — sprinting away from the building as it comes down, spewing out dust and debris.
One car even tries to turn around and drive away, but the driver couldn’t outrun the oncoming dust cloud.
Three people were transported to local hospitals with injuries from the collapse. Two were in serious but stable condition and the third was listed as stable, with minor injuries, the FDNY said.
The multi-story building was vacant and already being prepared for demolition to build new condos in its place, ABC station WABC reported.
The A and C subway trains that run under Fulton Street were delayed for a couple hours and resumed service after getting the all-clear, the MTA told ABC News.
A fire department spokesman said the cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
