Cops Finish Granny's Grocery Shopping After Purse Snatch

— -- Two Colorado cops went above and beyond the call of duty after an 86-year-old great-grandmother was robbed while grocery shopping, police said.
Aurora Police Officers Craig Hess and Robert Little helped Julia Brecht get home safely after a thief snatched her purse from her shopping cart. They also finished Brecht's grocery shopping, canceled her credit cards and changed her locks at home because the crook also stole her house keys, police said in a statement.
"They went far beyond what any person like me would expect," Brecht told ABC affiliate KMGH-TV in Denver.
Her cash, credit cards, car and house keys were in the bag that a crook swiped from her shopping cart at the Aurora Super Target, she said. But the officers were quick to help.
Brecht told Hess and Little she was eager to get home because she takes care of her husband, who is blind and in a wheelchair, she said.
"They grabbed my shopping list," Brecht told the station. "They bought the groceries. One brought me home. They went back to Target and brought my car home."
The officers even used their own cash to buy new locks for the woman's home, police said.
"They were just absolutely incredible," Brecht told KMGH. "We're just very thankful."
Fans praised the officers on the police department's Facebook page.
"That's why APD is one of the premier police departments in the country because of officers like this," one person wrote.
The purse-snatcher is still on the loose.
