Son Detained in Death of Parents While on Family Vacation in Virgin Islands, Police Say
Police said they discovered the bodies inside the couple's rental condo.
-- A 24-year-old Massachusetts man has been detained by police in connection with the fatal stabbing of his elderly parents during a family vacation in the U.S. Virgin Islands, police said today.
Jane Young, 67, and Kenneth Young, 73, were visiting St. Thomas from the U.S. mainland, according to police.
Their bodies were found inside their rental condominium located in the Sapphire Bay area of the U.S. Virgin Islands on Monday night, police said.
The couple's son, Mikhail Young, has been detained by police in Sudbury, Massachusetts, where the family is from, after Virgin Islands officials issued an arrest warrant for him, police said.
Authorities said the son went to the office of the condominium complex early Saturday and told staff he needed to rush to the airport. Mikhail Young then immediately departed on a flight back to the U.S. mainland, authorities said.
