2 'Dangerous' Inmates Escape from Nebraska Prison

The inmates, both sex offenders, were not present for a 12:30 p.m. inmate count.

Armon Dixon, 37, and Timothy Clausen, 52, were declared escapees about 12:30 p.m. when neither were present for an inmate count at the Lincoln Correctional Center, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

The men are considered dangerous and should not be approached. Both Dixon and Clausen were convicted of sex assaults, their criminal records show.

Escape procedures have been activated, and state and local police agencies have been notified. It is possible the men may have taken shelter at an unoccupied home in the area south of Lincoln, ABC News Lincoln affiliate KLKN reported.

Lincoln Correctional is medium/maximum prison. It is unclear how the men escaped.
