Driver Rescued by Good Samaritans After His SUV Flips Over
Some Good Samaritans kicked out the windshield to free the trapped man.
-- A New York City man is fortunate to be alive, thanks to some Good Samaritans, after his car flipped over, trapping him.
ABC station WABC-TV reports that driver Tony Chan was driving in reverse at a high speed Saturday morning when he lost control of his SUV on a street in the Queens neighborhood of Flushing, according to police. As a result, the SUV flipped on its roof.
When smoke started to come out of the vehicle, a couple of Good Samaritans arrived and kicked the windshield to pull Chan out to safety.
"We were thinking maybe the car would explode, so I worried about that," said Ping Xie, who recorded the rescue on his cellphone.
Chan was taken to a local hospital for a minor injury to the head.
No charges were filed, according to police.
