East Coast Braces for Heavy Rain, Winds in Winter Storm

The storm could affect more than 75 million people.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the tri-state area beginning at 4 a.m. Saturday until noon Sunday.

Snow accumulations in the tri-state area, which includes New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, are expected to be 6-10 inches, with winds of 25 mph to 35 mph. Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s.

The National Weather Service tweeted early Friday morning: "2.8 inches of snow at the NWS office so far...2.5 inches fell in the last hour alone."

Many states have already declared a state of emergency and more than 2,520 flights have been cancelled.

Saturday flights have been impacted as well, with 2,380 flights already cancelled, according to the website FlightAware.

A tornado watch was issued for parts of Louisiana and Texas on Thursday night, with storms emerging along the Gulf of Mexico.
