Florida Woman Has Iguana Plunged from Her Clogged Toilet
Check out how big it was.
-- A Florida family got a slimy surprise from their clogged toilet.
Marian Lindquist, 51, called a plumber when she couldn’t get her toilet unclogged on Sunday, only to find out the problem backing up the system was an iguana, she told ABC News today.
“I heard the plumber scream, and I ran over to our bathroom where she was,” she said.
Lindquist, a probate lawyer, said even she couldn’t believe what she saw in her toilet bowl — a nearly 18-inch bright-green iguana — hooked to the plumber’s auger.
“I don’t think anyone would’ve believed me if I didn’t post pictures,” she added.
Lindquist said the plumber told her it probably got in through the house’s vents on the roof and went toward the largest opening, which happened to be for the toilet.
“I didn’t understand that there was some big obstruction in the toilet,” she said. “I just thought it didn’t work for some random reason, but not because of an iguana.”
Lindquist’s 17-year-old daughter, Lily, was determined to keep the problem from happening again.
The teenager climbed onto the roof of the Fort Lauderdale home and put screens on the ventilating pipes to keep their plumbing system iguana-free, Lindquist said.
“It all worked out except for the lizard. There was nothing we could do to save it,” she said. “This whole situation was just shocking.”
The plumber, Alisa Scott, did not immediately respond to ABC News’ request for comment.
